MoCADA docents engage visitors in the gallery by answering questions, offering insight, and facilitating meaningful discussions about the art on view. Docents serve visitors of all ages by providing hospitality and warmth, as well as contextualizing the artwork and its themes and explaining the Museum’s history and curatorial mission. The MoCADA Docent Program is designed to provide weekday and weekend tours for all ages and a continuous presence in the gallery, serving as a critical connection between the Museum staff and the community.
The Docent Program welcomes art enthusiasts, students, stay-at-home parents, retirees, or anyone who wants to become involved in arts and education. No formal art history training is required, but prospective docents should be outgoing and friendly, with excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn and serve visitors. A year-long commitment is required.
