An intimate look at the 200-year old tradition of Black masking through the beadwork of Demond “Big Chief” Melancon, which appeared in conjunction with the work of Langston Allston for the MoCADA exhibition, A Love Letter to New Orleans in November 2018. Energized by the crescent city in which they first met though driven by different perspectives, the pair found a common thread in their unique bond of friendship which has inspired the other’s artistic journey.
