Founded in fellowship and designed as a space to propel conversation, Brothers & Sisters is a remix to the fabled literary salons of 1920s New York City. The monthly event series serves as a forum where art, political ideology, religious belief, and personal conviction coexist as a means to inform and challenge attendees. Our aim for Brothers & Sisters is simple: to engage the members of our community, to have fun, and, above all, to lessen the threat of our differences through a healthy exchange of ideas.
This month, in collaboration with Whitney R. McGuire and Dominique Drakeford of Sustainable Brooklyn, join Brothers & Sisters for an insightful conversation about Black Sustainability. With a special focus in the food and fashion spaces, we will share expertise from food justice trailblazer and Sol Sips owner Francesca Chaney, Fordham University PhD candidate Lisa Betty, whose work centers on the politics of food security, and Janine Hausif, the founder of BASYL, a women’s fashion brand committed to creating beautiful garments that are environmentally and socially responsible. See you on October 24th at MoCADA!
