Event Details

Join us for an exclusive panel discussion and early look at Give the Drummer Some, a documentary film by Director Trevor Banks that explores the life and influence of Clyde Stubblefield, funk and hip-hop’s most sampled drummer. The panel discussion include some of our favorite musical minds, including ethnomusicologist Fredara Hadley, celebrated producer and DJ Just Blaze,  and legendary bassist Fred Thomas in conversation with journalist Timmhotep Aku. Music by Quinnette.

While the film is still in production and currently funding its completion, it already features an all-star cast of music aficionados celebrating funk and the work of Stubblefield, including Questlove, Bootsy Collins, Anderson.Paak, Breakbeat Lou, George Clinton, Kid Capri, Jab’o Starks, Fred Wesley, Christian McBride, Dennis Chambers, Nate Smith, and others. And now you can see early clips from Give the Drummer Some before it hits the big screen.
