Known as the color that Southern families paint their front porches to ward off bad spirits, Haint Blu uses performance as a center and source of healing, taking us through movement into stillness and rest. Haint Blu is an embodied look into familial lines and the movements, histories, and stories of our elders and ancestors. It reflects on what has been lost across generations and what can be recovered.

Join us for a special interactive performance — a work in progress — by Urban Bush Women at MoCADA House on Governors Island, made in collaboration with The Trust for Governors Island for House Fest.

ABOUT HOUSE FEST

Bringing together more than 15 cultural partners, August 5-7 is a weekend-long creative celebration that will feature free dance and music performances, outdoor installations, interactive workshops, open studios, panel discussions, and more.

House Fest is a collaboration between Governors Island Arts’ two dozen seasonal Organizations in Residence and a diverse roster of choreographers and performers from throughout New York City, building upon the cultural landscape the program fosters each year in the former military homes of Nolan Park and Colonels Row on Governors Island.
