Brooklyn’s longest running film festival for kids is baaaack! Inspired by the theme Sankofa: Back to the Future, the 2022 season of KIDflix Film festival celebrates the power of our collective past to propel us forward.

Screening every Friday in August from the 5-26th, this year’s selection of family-friendly films (ages 6+) are inspired by Afrofuturism, sci-fi, intergenerational tales and fables, and more. Presented by MoCADA, African Film Festival, WarnerMedia, and AT&T, with ice cream by Brooklyn’s own Creme & Cocoa.

 

Join us on the park lawn at Fulton Park, 70 Chauncey Street (between Lewis and Stuyvesant Avenues) a 6:00-9pm.

SHORT FILM: Afro Algorithms (America, 2022)
DIRECTOR: Anatola Araba
LANGUAGE: In English 
RUNNING TIME: 14minutes

SYNOPSIS: This 3D animated short film in the Afrofuturist genre explores the topics of AI and bias. In a distant future, an artificial intelligence named Aero is inaugurated as the world’s first AI ruler. But Aero soon learns that important worldviews are missing from her databank, including the experiences of the historically marginalized and oppressed. 

 

FEATURE FILM: Little (America, 2019)

RUNNING TIME: 1hour 49minutes

SYNOPSIS: Jordan is a take-no-prisoners tech mogul who torments her long-suffering assistant, April, and the rest of her employees on a daily basis. She soon faces an unexpected threat to her personal life and career when she magically transforms into a 13-year-old version of herself right before a do-or-die presentation. Jordan will now need to rely on April more than ever — if April is willing to stop treating Jordan like a 13-year-old child who has an attitude problem.
