Brooklyn’s longest running film festival for kids is baaaack! Inspired by the theme Sankofa: Back to the Future, the 2022 season of KIDflix Film festival celebrates the power of our collective past to propel us forward.

Screening every Friday in August from the 5-26th, this year’s selection of family-friendly films (ages 6+) are inspired by Afrofuturism, sci-fi, intergenerational tales and fables, and more. Presented by MoCADA, African Film Festival, WarnerMedia, and AT&T, with ice cream by Brooklyn’s own Creme & Cocoa.

 

Join us in the amphitheater at Herbert Von King Park (670 Lafayette Avenue @ Tompkins Avenue in Brooklyn) a 6:30-9pm for a special finale screening and Costume party!. Film starts at sunset.

SYNOPSIS: Dorothy, a twenty-four-year-old kindergarten teacher born, raised, and still working in Harlem, is celebrating Thanksgiving with her extended family, but she doesn’t seem to be thankful for much in life. She lives a self-imposed sheltered life; she is shy and unfulfilled. Things change for her when she is caught in a snowstorm while chasing after her dog, Toto. They are transported to the mysterious Land of Oz, where she is informed that the only possible way to find her way back home is through the assistance of the powerful wizard in the Emerald City.
