Stop1 Projects: No I.C.E. Public Art Installation
May 12, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - September 5, 2022 @ 9:00 pm
STOP1 Projects delivers “NO I.C.E.”, an interactive public art work that transforms the bodega ice vending machine into a platform for immigration rights awareness. Utilizing the familiarity of the ice box as an entry point, while centering the Immigration Customs Enforcement agency “I.C.E.” acronym to articulate a powerful double meaning, ‘NO I.C.E.’ raises a mirror to the viewer’s gaze. It is a lens that extricates language and images to challenge perceptions of American identity beyond the confines of nationalism, ethnicity, and race.
