Entitled, Free the Land!, the exhibition explores indigeneity through an African diasporic lens. Through the figurative and abstract works on view, we reconnect with the natural continuum and contemplate the literal and symbolic impact of our complex histories on our contemporary landscape. Let the weeds of exploitative labor be pulled out while the restorative waters of ancestral memory nourish our legacy as stewards, farmers, foragers, healers, and more… By reclaiming our embodied relationship with Mother Earth, we address climate injustice and confront colonialism at the root.
